You either like Tressell's book or you don't (I'm not keen), but the term 'Ragged Trousered Philanthropist' is - in itself - a good term for a lot of what the Big Society seems to be pushing.
The thing is, the idea itself - using social capital to replace poorly implemented government solutions - is a good one. But it seems to me to be the Tory super-ego in service of the Tory id....
