I'm not familiar with all the aerodynamics, but a runway which is also a reverse travelling conveyor belt would certainly shorten the need for length, and would therefore be a fine solution to one aspect of the Heathrow expansion controversy.Let's get some boffins on it.
Good point Paul. One thing that struck me is that a windmill powered conveyor belt could get the planes in the air using less fuel and maybe less noise as well.See? This is what they mean when they say 'thinking outside the box'.
