The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point is to complain about it.
Timescape used to be one of my favourite novels when I was a teenager, but I'd forgotten that quote. It does describe, however, my approach to General Studies 'A'-Level at the time: "Never answer any essay question about a subject you give a toss about." The result was anodyne, carefully balanced laundry-list responses and A grades.
